Fashion takes centre stage at CDG2E

The commercial offer in the reopened Terminal 2E at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport is taking shape, with Aelia Group completing a number of new stores in time for the holiday season. Following the inauguration of two beauty outlets (380sq m and 43sq m), a 310sq m liquor and tobacco store plus Sunny Days (sunglasses) and Hermès outlets earlier this year, Aelia opened five further stores last week, considerably strengthening the company's fashion portfolio.

On June 26 Aelia opened three new fashion boutiques: a duo-brand store offering Céline and Salvatore Ferragamo, plus men's and women's multi-brand outlets. The stores form part of an impressive fashion offer at 2E, where Aelia will also operate boutiques by Ralph Lauren, offering the Black and Purple collections, and Yves Saint Laurent-a world first for the fashion house in travel-retail-in addition to another duo-brand boutique offering Longchamp and Lancel.

Both new fashion multi-brand stores in 2E feature a vibrant mix of classic and emerging brands. The men's outlet, covering 170sq m, offers clothing from Hugo Boss, Lacoste and Zadig et Voltaire, accessories from Montblanc and Porsche Design plus luggage by Tumi and Samsonite Black Label.

Meanwhile the 150sq m women's store features collections from several emerging and established fashion designers, including Paul and Joe, Marc Jacobs, Zadig et Voltaire, Kenzo, Gerard Darel and Sonia Rykiel. A line of accessories from Furla will also be offered, along with a range of shoes by trendy Parisian specialist Repetto.

Also opened last week was a Virgin multimedia and electronics outlet plus a second Pure and Rare liquor and tobacco store.

Commenting on the developments, Aelia chairman and CEO Jean-Baptiste Morin said: "The reopening of terminal 2E is a significant milestone in the development of Paris CDG, an airport that could well become Europe's largest within a few years. We are delighted to be part of the new environment at 2E and I'm very confident in the commercial potential of the zone.

"In particular, this development is a big step forward for our fashion business. We're very happy to extend our long-standing relationship with brands such as Longchamp, Lancel, Céline and Ferragamo, and we are excited to begin working with Ralph Lauren and Yves Saint Laurent, two very prestigious fashion labels that will be making their debuts in Paris travel-retail and, in YSL's case, in global airport retail.

"We're also very pleased with the mix we have achieved in the new multi-brand fashion stores. Our aim was to find the right blend of "edgy" and "classic" labels and I think Richard Geneste and his buying team have met that objective. Aéroports de Paris have bought into our vision and once again we are grateful for their support.

"Fashion and accessories is a category in which we see a lot of potential and we will be working hard to develop this area of our business in the months and years ahead, both in France and elsewhere."
