Fauchon : a first for Aelia and Lagardère Services Asia-Pacific

This week, one of the world’s most renowned fine food brands opens its doors at Hong Kong International Airport for the first time. FAUCHON Paris, synonymous with French contemporary luxury food, is a reference for lovers of gourmet food all over the world. Its debut at HKIA, in partnership with Aelia and Lagardère Services Asia Pacific, is sure to delight the airport’s discerning customers.

The story of the brand is the story of a constant search for excellence and a taste for the rare and the unique.

Arriving in Paris from rural Calvados in 1880, Auguste Fauchon set up shop at his food cart at Place de la Madeleine, offering fruits and vegetables from the best orchards and farms in France. In 1886, aged only 30, he opened his first store in the same location, allowing Auguste to offer a wider range of the best French produce, including a cellar of the finest wines and champagnes. The Madeleine store soon became a reference among Parisians, gaining fame not only as a showcase for French gastronomy but as a shop window for exotic foodstuffs from around the world.

Down the years Auguste’s successors carefully nurtured the values of the FAUCHON brand, keeping pace with new tastes and trends, unearthing the unexpected and always delighting the taste buds of FAUCHON’s loyal customers. Now under the guidance of the Ducros family, the brand is distributed in 36 countries and over 400 retail outlets, to the delight of lovers of fine food worldwide. FAUCHON’s development in Asia has been rapid: the brand is available in over 100 stores in Japan and opened a flagship store in Beijing in 2007. Now, with its latest opening in Hong Kong International Airport, a new chapter in the FAUCHON story begins.

The FAUCHON boutique at HKIA is situated in the airport’s West Hall and covers 53m². It will be operated by Aelia Group and Lagardère Services Asia Pacific, sister companies within the Lagardère Services group, and will offer a wide range of FAUCHON’s most popular delicacies, including foie gras, caviar, salmon, pâtés, sauces, condiments, coffees, teas and preserves. Lovers of fine chocolates will also find their every desire catered for, with a number of tempting gift boxes on offer, including a selection exclusive to HKIA available from May.
